Obituary of Edna Tarnowski
Edna Tarnowski, 89, of Brookside Avenue passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Amstedam February 8, 1919 a daughter of the late Sylvester and Nellie Polinski Alisauski.
Edna grew up on her family's farm and attended area schools. She was proud of taking a large role in the upbringing of her siblings in earlier years. She was of Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She married Stanley Tarnowski on February 19, 1937 at St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman, he predeceased her on August 3, 1985. Edna enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Lillian Barone of Amsterdam, her son William Tarnowski of Amsterdam, her granddaughters, Serena Barone and Theresa Alex Barone-Lopez, her great-grandchildren, Tia, Jacob and Zoe Orlosky and Victoria Lilly, Juliana and Anthony Barone-Lopez, and her sisters, Amelia Jablonski, Bernice Vitus, and Theresa Valentine Kerbelis. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Edna was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and John Alisauski, three sisters, Florence Eaton, Frances McCoski and Martha Barejka, and her son-in-law, Anthony Barone.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2008 at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Reid Street, Amsterdam with Fr. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. The Catholic Rite of Committal will follow in the parish cemetery. Contributions in Edna's memory may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or the Amsterdam Free Library, 28 Church Street, Amsterdam. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home in Amsterdam.
