Obituary of Michael T. DelCostello
Michael T. DelCostello, 87, of the Mount Loretto Nursing Home, formerly of Duane Avenue Schenectady, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on November 6, 1920, he was the son of the late Michael and Serafina Freshera DelCostello. Educated locally, he proudly served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater Of Operations. He moved to Schenectady in 1944. Mike was employed as a contractor in this area, including Friends Lumber Company in Schenectady before he retired. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady and at one time, St. Michael The Archangel in Amsterdam.
His beloved wife, the former Mary Villanova predeceased him in 2000 and he lost his only son, Gary in 1960. Also, brothers, Frank, Jerry James, and Albert DelCostello, and sisters, Antoinette Dabiere and Lena DelCostello have passed away.
He leaves his brothers; Herman Theresa DelCostello of Gloversville and Carmen Late Mary Jane DelCostello of Amsterdam , a sister in law , Antoinette DelCostello and many nieces and nephews.
Services are Saturday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment will take place with military honors at St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
