Obituary of Mae Travis
Mae Travis, 59, died Thursday October 2, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
She was born in Hartford, CT on February 23, 1949 the daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine Champ Humphrey.
Mae worked at Taylor Made Products as an agent for merchandise for over 20 years. She loved crafts and shared her talents with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, watching NASCAR and wilderness. Mae was known as a very generous person and would do anything for anyone. She loved her family, especially her eight grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her five children: Joseph Smimmo and his wife Marie of Mayfield, Patricia Blowers and her husband Jeffrey of Gloversville, Pasquale Smimmo Jr. of Chester, NY, Antoinette Walters and her husband Andrew of Gloversville and Josephine Smimmo of Fonda; a brother, Bill Humphrey of Rotterdam; a sister, Jacquelyn Carpenter of Macon, GA; eight grandchildren: Kyle Empie, Alyssa Hohenforst, Cameron Agnew, Kierra Blowers, Donald Walters, Kelsey Walters, Joseph Henry Smimmo and Julia Rutty; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday October 7, 2008 from 2 to 4pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halsted St., Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60642-2642 or to a local charity of your choice in Mae's memory.
