Obituary of Dorothy Jean Nicolella
Dorothy Jean Nicolella, age 90, of Gloversville, died Monday morning, February 13, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville.
She was born July 26, 1926 in Gloversville, the daughter of Delos and Pauline Bohacek Hall.
She was employed as a glove maker by Sanges Gloves, Mario Papa and Sons, Grandoe Corp. and also worked at St. Thomas Inc.
Dorothy was a New York Yankee fan and enjoyed reading mystery novels, gardening and traveling to California and Iowa to visit her son and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Nicolella, former mayor of Gloversville, and a sister, Helen Lauria, as well as her parents.
Dorothy is survived by two children, June M. Smith of Glenville and Louis Nicolella (Cathy) of Urbandale, Iowa; a sister, Eleanor Nicolella of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Shaun Smith (Christina) of Clifton Park, Shannon Smith of St. Augustine, FL, Lindsay Nicolella of San Francisco, CA and Christina Nicolella of Winterset, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Arianna and Anthony; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Getman Home where she resided for ten years and the Staff of Nathan Littauer Nursing Home for their care.
A memorial prayer service will be held sometime this summer at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville. Interment will follow at G.B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
