Obituary of Mary Jane Luci
Mrs. Mary Jane Papa Luci, age 66 of Gloversville, died peacefully at her home on Monday evening, October 20, 2008.
She was born September 11, 1942 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Marguerite DeGaro Papa. A 1960 graduate of Gloversville High School, she later became a certified Phlebotomist and was employed by Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville and at Mayer and Cope Family Practice in Vail Mills. She also was an advertising representative for several radio stations including WENT and WCSS.
Mary Jane was a resident of Hagaman for many years. While living there she was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. She returned to Gloversville several years ago and again became a member of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church. She was also a member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary.
She deeply loved and enjoyed being with her family. She also enjoyed cooking and reading. Her pet dogs were also very dear to her.
Mary Jane is survived by two sons: Richard A. Luci, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Rye and David P. Luci and his wife Donna of Staten Island; a brother, Mario J. Papa and his wife Johanne of Gloversville; two grandchildren: Kristen J. Luci and Jason D. Luci. Another granddaughter, Daniela Mary Jane Luci is expected to be born on October 28th. Additional survivors include aunts and uncles: Dominic and Angeline Papa, Mary Krempa, Louis Franco, Mary Russo, Shirley Papa and Charles and Beatrice Papa; nieces and nephew: Christine Botello, Lauren Papa, Jessica Papa-Kaiser, Stacia Boswell and David Jung; and several cousins. Her Havanese pet dog Little Luci also survives.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. The Rev. Thomas Morrette will be the celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will take place in the springtime at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
