Obituary of Biagio J. Bucciferro

Biagio J. "Butch" Bucciferro, 80, of County Hwy 107, Perth, NY , passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital with loved ones at his side. Born in Amsterdam on December 1, 1927, the son of the late Antonio and Angelina Napoli Bucciferro. As a well known businessman, Butch owned and operated the former Perth Food Center for thirty years and later was employed by Town And Country Meat And Cheese until he retired five years ago. Until recently was a long time member of the Perth Town Zoning Board. An avid golfer, he was a lifetime parishioner of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Butch 's real passion however , was for his family. A devoted husband, father and "poppy", he was never more happy than when he was with family and friends, and customers , especially attending his grandchildren's events. He loved life and people in general, and his door was always open. He left a legacy that will remain with all who knew him. Even with his long battle with cancer, Butch's response was always "I'm the luckiest man in the world". He leaves his beloved wife of over sixty one years, Lena Testa Bucciferro; children; Angela James Pelneau of Perth, Anthony Kristin Bucciferro of Schenectady, David Linda Bucciferro of Scotia , Barbara Douglas Handy of Sharon Springs and John Lynda Bucciferro of Perth; he was the proud poppy of Jimmy Pelneau, Amy, Erica, Bruce Bucciferro, Renee Handy, Alex and Biagio Bucciferro, Mason Handy and Antonio Bucciferro; his brother Frank late Catherine Bucciferro of Amsterdam as well as nieces, nephews and cousins, brothers and sisters in law. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. On Saturday, services are at 10:00 am at the funeral home, where a time of sharing memories will be accorded to anyone who wishes. A Mass Of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church, celebrated by Fr. Lawrence J. Decker. Interment is in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Butch's name to the Perth Youth Commission, the Broadalbin Youth Commission or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital all in care of the funeral home office.
