Obituary of Herbert S. Gordon
Herbert S. Gordon, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Mountain Valley Hospice with his family by his side.
He was born December 17, 1939 in Schenectady, the son of James and Josephine Bannin Gordon. He moved to the area in 1961 and was a maintenance worker for Coleco.
Herbert was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy. He was a member of both AARP and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor F. Gordon, whom he married on June 23, 1961 at Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville; a son, Michael Gordon Valencia of Dolgeville; a daughter, Eleanor L. Gordon Nicole Laverdore of Gloversville, three grandchildren: Nicole Stuart Brian of Maine, Jason Gordon Amber of Maine and Christy Knight Greg; five great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Cameron, Carter, Colbie Brian and Dylan; two brothers: Bernard Gordon Eleanor of Gloversville and Harold Gordon Karen of Gloversville; two sisters: Joyce Forgett of Ft. Plain and Marie Watson of Broadalbin; he was predeceased by two brothers: James Gordon and Roger Gordon; a sister, Patricia St. Louis and his beloved dog and best friend, Champ.
There will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
