Obituary of George R. Overbaugh

George R. Overbaugh, 81, of Stoner Trail Road, Fonda, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Amsterdam January 12, 1927 a son of the late Raymond J. and Olive May Wickham Overbaugh. George was a life resident of the area and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He worked as a custodian at Coleco in Amsterdam for several years. George was a direct decedent of "Peter Young the Patriot" and was very proud of compiling the book, "Decedents of Sarah DuBois." He had a deep interest in guns and old cars and enjoyed playing the banjo and the keyboard. His family includes his cousins, James Wickham, Edward Overbaugh, Allan Overbaugh and Daniel Overbaugh all of Amsterdam, Benjamin Overbaugh of Mesa, AZ, and his close friends, Douglas and Jodi VanNostrand of Gloversville and Cecil Baker of Tribes Hill. Several additional cousins also survive. At George's request there will be no calling period or funeral services. Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Steadwell Avenue, Amsterdam. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY.
