Obituary of Geneva Smalley
Geneva Smalley, formerly of Sulfur Springs Rd. Scotch Bush, passed away Wednesday November 26, 2008 at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ on July 26, 1917 a daughter of Harold and Elizabeth Davis Crane. She grew up in Somerville, New Jersey and was a graduate of Sommerville High School.
During World War II she was an editor for Pathe's News Training Films which assisted the Military in the war effort. From 1952 to 1970 she worked as a School Bus Driver in Sommerville. She came to the Amsterdam area in 1972.
She was of the Protestant Faith and attended the former Minaville Reformed Church currently the Florida Reformed Church in the town of Florida, NY. She was a member of the 5th Ward Seniors in Amsterdam. Mrs. Smalley enjoyed cooking, flowers, pets and being with her family.
Geneva married William Smalley on January 27, 1939, he died on September 19, 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Betsy Lamberton and her husband Ed of Broadalbin, NY. One brother, Minard Crane of Middlesex, N.J. One granddaughter, Joy Arcolano and her husband Nick of Boston, MA. A great-grandson, Maxwell Edison Arcolano also of Boston, MA. Cousins, Catherine Cohran and Marge Zakulic.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday November 30, 2008 at 4:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc. 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Interment will take place at a later date in East Branch Cemetery in East Branch, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday November 30th, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility Activities Fund, 4988 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, New York 12010.
