Obituary of Anthony Sturgess

Anthony Sturgess, age 63, entered into eternal rest Thursday November 27, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his home in Gloversville with his family by his side. Tony was born February 6, 1945 in Gloversville, NY, the son of the late Benjamin and Jennie Sturgess. On January 3, 1966 Tony was united in marriage with Arlene Reinke in California. They shared 44 years together in marriage. Tony enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, golfing, and fishing. Tony had a talent for music. He had a passion for playing guitar, as well as giving guitar lessons. Tony was employed at the Lexington Center for 25 years, where he was an instrumental part of the creation of the band "FLAME". Survivors include his wife Arlene Sturgess; two sons Anthony Sturgess Jr. Beth and Kevin Sturgess Allie; one daughter Lori Sturgess Mansell Craig; eleven Grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua, Libbie, Kaylie, Alina, Abigail, Malia, Rhiannon, Kevin, Andrew, and Harrison. Tony is also survived by two sisters Kathy Sturgess and Janet Willet John, and a brother Danny SturgessDonna. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Sturgess and Benjamin Sturgess Jr. Memorial Visitation will be Sunday from 2:30 to 5:30 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A private family memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
