Obituary of Emanuel M. Porto
Emanuel M. Porto, 96, died Friday November 28, 2008 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia, NY.
Born in New York City on January 28, 1912 a son of Peter and Sarah Reggerio Porto. He lived most of his life in Schenectady and Amsterdam. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II serving with the Rainbow Division.
He was a self-employed apartment house owner and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Mr. Porto married the former Madeline Iannotti on February 4th, 1941. She passed away on May 11, 1981.
He is survived by his daughter in law, Margaret A. Porto of Scotia, NY. Six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son, Peter E. Porto.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30A.M.on Wednesday December 3rd, 2008 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St. Amsterdam. Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 8:00A.M. to 8:30A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
