Obituary of Peter S. Parkhurst

Mr. Peter S. Parkhurst, 76, of Grand St., Amsterdam, passed away Monday December 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Gloversville, NY on November 7, 1932 a son of Richard and Neal Sargent Parkhurst. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War serving in the 34th Air Division. Mr. Parkhurst was employed for many years as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway Authority working at the Fultonville exit. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his good friend Trent Natola of Fort Plain, NY. Two sons, David Parkhurst of West Springfield, PA and Richard of Northville, NY. Grandchildren, Emily K. and Sara Parkhurst. One sister, Pricilla Ferguson of New York City . Several other friends and relatives also survive. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Wendy Parkhurst in 1995 and a brother Michael Parkhurst in the early 1990's. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 6th 2008 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday December 5th, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 2077, Gloversville, NY 12078.
