Obituary of Marian Blakeslee

Mrs. Marian Blakeslee, 86, of Burkesville, KY, formerly of Hagaman, NY died peacefully on December 4, 2008 at the Cumberland County Hospital following a brief illness. Born on June 3, 1922 in Pattersonville, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles and Luetta Bennett Belfance. Marian was a homemaker who enjoyed her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. On September 12, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alfred W. Blakeslee. That union lasted 38 years until his untimely passing on January 28, 1982. She was also predeceased by two sisters Irene Belfance and Ellen Baran. Her loving family includes her children, Donald Blakeslee and his wife Sandra and Nancy Slavens and her husband Vernon, all of Burkesville, KY and Frederick Blakeslee of Sebastian, FL; three sisters, Alberta Waufle of St. Johnsville and Edna Phelps and Naomi Sokalski, both of Amsterdam; one brother, Richard Belfance of Perth; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 11 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Interment will follow in Hagaman Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 until 7 this evening Monday at the funeral home.
