Obituary of Sarah E. Davis

Mrs. Sarah E. "Sally" Davis, 84, of County Highway 107, Town of Perth, died peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, December 5, 2008 with her family by her side. Born on February 18, 1924 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Goldthrope Gottung. A lifelong area resident, Sally was educated in Fort Plain and worked for over 20 years for Beech- Nut in Canajoharie in the gum department. She was of the Lutheran faith, and attended both the Perth Bible Church and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran in Amsterdam. Sally enjoyed cooking, baking and being in the home that she loved dearly. On October 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to the Hon. Wallace R. Davis. That union lasted 53 years until his passing on January 7, 2001. She was also predeceased by a sister Beverly James. Her loving family includes, her two daughters, Barbara J. Davis of Amsterdam and Patricia A. Davis of Perth; two granddaughters, Kelly K. Coluni of Amsterdam and Heather E. Shannon Boothe of Ballston Spa; one great granddaughter, Morgan Boothe; a brother in law, Frank James of Fort Plain; her beloved pets, Ben, Spooky and Shanghai; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 10 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Interment will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 until 7 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Perth Bible Church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or Mountain Valley Hospice, all in care of the funeral home office.
