Obituary of Eleanor Miller
Eleanor Miller, R. N., 87, of Great Barrington, MA passed away peacefully Sunday December 7, 2008 at
Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick, MA. Born in Great Barrington, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jarvis Morandi and Jessie McGown Morandi of North Egremont, MA.
Eleanor was a graduate of St. Luke's Hospital Training School for Nurses in Pittsfield, MA and served in the Army Nurse Corps in WW II as a Second Lieutenant. In 1944 she was united in marriage to Charles H. Miller, former publisher of the Amsterdam Recorder, who predeceased her in 1980.
She grew up in North Egremont, MA and raised her family in Milford, MA and Amsterdam, NY while spending most of her past twenty five years living in Great Barrington, MA.
Eleanor known as Norrie to her family was the proud mother of three sons; a woman of deep faith in Christ who contributed to her community and church as a volunteer giving many hours of selfless service. She was an avid golfer, an artist, and loved classical music especially attending Tangelwood performances with friends.
Her loving family includes her three sons: Kim Miller deceased, Scott Miller & wife Madeline of Amsterdam, NY and Brian Miller & wife Norah of Dover, MA; her four sisters Francis Donaldson deceased, Margaret "Peggy" Pape deceased, Martha Bright of Alford, MA and Mary Ann Esty
of Austell, GA; her four grandchildren Kirsten Miller of Florence, MA, Eben Miller of Amsterdam, NY, Sarah Greeno of Millis, MA and Erin Miller of Dover, MA; her four great grandchildren Makenzie, Emma, Maddison Mae and Caleb.
Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam, NY 12010 followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
