Obituary of Freida E. Yurgans

Freida E. Yurgans 91, formerly of Hwy 110, Broadalbin, passed away at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam on Monday morning. She was born in Amsterdam on October 16, 1917, the daughter of the late William and Freida Bush Hasenfuss. Educated locally, she lived in this area her entire life. Freida worked as a seamstress for Montco in Amsterdam and was a home maker. On Dec. 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Theodore Yurgans who predeceased her in 1972. She also lost her daughters; Eleanor Minch and infant Janice Yurgans; brothers; PVT William Hasenfuss and Fred Hasenfuss; sisters; Esther Crouch and Helen Reid. Her loving family includes her sons; Harry Carol Yurgans of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Charles Doris Yurgans of Fultonville, and Donald Yurgans of Chino Hills, Ca.; seven grandchildren; Donald, Carla, Charles, Gary, Kim, Eric and Kristin; six great grandchildren; her son in law Stuart Minch; brothers; Robert Hasenfuss of Amsterdam and Edward Hasenfuss of Broadalbin; sisters; Rena Houghton of Perth and Carol Barton of Oregon as well as sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Freida's family would like to thank the caring staff at River Ridge and St. Mary's Hospital William Hall for all the kindness extended to Freida during her illness. Services are Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Dr. John Califano officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the West Galway Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service at 12 noon Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Or the American Diabetes Asso. both in care of the funeral home office.
