Obituary of Jane R. Gardinier

Mrs. Jane R. Gardinier, 90, formerly of Abeling Street, Canajoharie died peacefully Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on June 1, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Angela Marie Magaldi Casalere. Mrs. Gardinier was educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She later went on to the Utica School of Commerce and also attended the Western Union School in Washington, NJ. Soon after, she returned to Utica where she worked in the Western Union office at Union Station in Utica. She also worked for Rhoads General Hospital for a time. In 1947 she moved to Canajoharie where she was employed at Beech- Nut as a key punch operator. Throughout her life, Jane also helped out at Canadarago Lake, which was owned by her family. She also worked for the State Bank in Fort Plain for a short time. On September 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Howard W. Gardinier. That union lasted 53 years until his passing on September 12, 2000. Survivors include one sister, Catherine Labrie of Utica; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will take place in the spring in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
