Obituary of Paul Warschawski
Mr. Paul Warschawski of Rexford, New York passed away on December 14th, 2008 from a brief illness. He was born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1939. He was a former resident of Gloversville for many years.
Paul received his U.S. citizenship at age 13 after his parents moved to New York City. He received his Bachelor's degree from Long Island University and his Master's degree in languages from Glassboro State University.
Paul's professional career began as a teacher in the Atlantic City school system. Shortly thereafter he accepted a position at Fulton-Montgomery Community College FMCC where he was a professor of languages for 37 years before retiring in May of 2000. During his tenure at FMCC, Paul was the Chairman of the Language Club where he arranged field trips for his students with destinations ranging from New York City to Boston to Montreal, Canada. In addition, Paul shared the many tenets of cultural diversity with his students by hosting dinners either at his home or at an area ethnic restaurant celebrating the rich cuisine from around the world. Upon retirement, Paul found himself missing the day-to-day contact with his students. He subsequently accepted a part-time teaching position with the Center for Distance Learning at Empire State College in Saratoga Springs teaching Spanish to undergraduates.
Paul was a man who truly loved the arts. He loved to read and would often venture acting in the community theatre. Paul's true passion, however, was spending time with his family. He loved to travel with his wife Barbara and daughter Justinn, around the globe visiting more than 25 countries in four different continents. Paul also dedicated a significant amount of his time and love to his two shih-tzus or as he would say, his children Oliver and Abigail.
Paul is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Justinn and Justinn's half-siblings Daniel Warschawski and Heidi Warschawski-Spoor. He has two grandchildren, Danny Spoor and Lydia Warschawski with another on the way.
