Obituary of Sidney G. Adelman

Mr. Sidney G. Adelman, age 89, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. A lifelong Gloversville resident, he had lived at Wallins Corners Condominiums in Amsterdam for the past year. He was born September 13, 1919 in Gloversville, the son of the late William and Ida Stein Adelman. Sidney was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. Most of all, he was a devoted family man and loved to spend time with his family. Mr. Adelman was a co-owner of both Dares Leather and Adelman Leather Inc. for many years. He was a member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue, Hale Mills Golf Club and a former member of the Pine Brook Golf Club. He was married on October 18, 1940 to Miriam Brenner who died September 23, 2003. Survivors include his two children, Ray M. Adelman of Singapore and Jeanne Tanner Mark of Gloversville; three grandchildren: Mark Renfro Dianeof San Diego, CA and Ali Adelman and Craig Adelman of New York City and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held today at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville, with the Rabbi Martin Gordon officiating.
