Brad Swartz Dori's son posted a condolence
Sunday, January 18, 2009
On behalf of my Dad Russ Swartz and our family, I would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of flower, cards, gifts, letters, condolences and other kindnesses extended to our family during our loss. Dori remained the matriarch of our family, even during the later years of her illness. We always looked forward to seeing her to share a kiss and a smile right until the end. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She touched many lives and hearts within and outside her family. That is evidenced through the many remberences received and emptiness we feel in our hearts. We will be panning a formal service during May of 2009 to celebrate her life. We would be most greatful if you can attend- all are welcome. Details will follow as final arrangements are made. I miss you Mom, my heart still aches.
Love, your son Brad

We recall Doris visiting the Bronck House and Vedder Library in Coxsackie, with her brother, Grant. As a volunteer in a local Fort Plain Museum, her perspective was interesting. Please accept our condolences.

Ellen and I were so sad to hear of Aunt Dori's passing. I have so many great memories of spending time with her and the family at the farm in Fort Plain- the barns, the cows, milking all day long.
Our sincere condolences go to Russ, Lee, Brad and families. I'm glad we visited not long ago. Our prayers and love for Aunt Dori will always be there.

Russ and Family,
My thoughts are with you. How my mom enjoyed Home Bureau with Dori. Dori shared a good story about that with me. I'm glad I got to visit on my last trip to NY.

Nana, I will always remember coming up to camp at the farm when I was a little girl. The morning after I would enjoy your homemade buttermilk pancakes. You taught me how to use a knife! I also loved going to your home on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve and helping you make your famous marble cake.
You were beautiful when you smiled and kissed us all this past November. You and Grampie are such loving people and I am thankful that you are both part of my life. Also, thank you for raising such a wonderful father for me. God bless.

I have faith that Doris is with God at this very moment. Doris was a strong person and kept Jesus close to her heart. Not only do I share her beliefs, but I am so grateful that she is in heaven. My love goes to her and to God the father. See you soon, Grandma!

Dore was one of the most creative people I've ever met. This has been readily evident by the way she decorated her home as well as her workplace over the years. I doubt that there are many of us amongst her family and friends who don't have a crafted or painted keepsake that Dore handily created. I will always remember her for her love of family and strength of character. I've seen her walk thru some of the adversities that life has thrown her way. I've seen her face them all with grace and courage. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know her have been blessed by her in ways too many to mention. My prayers go out to Russ, whose love and devotion to Dore especially in these last difficult years, have been exemplary. My prayers go out to Lee,Brad, and their families. They too have dedicated much love and assistance to both Dore and Russ. This is after all what families do and they excelled at it.It has been both a blessing and a privilege to know such a classy lady that I could call Aunt Dore. May God bless her and her wonderful family.

Even though Dore is 'in a better place' it doesn't seem right that she's no longer here. I'll be one of the souls who will long for her as long as I'm here. I feel very blessed to have known Dore & been able to share moments with Dore & her beautiful husband Russ. Such love. The kind of love you don't see much of so you feel lucky when you do. I'm glad that Dore is with Grant & so many wonderful souls, but my heart goes out to Russ, Lee, Brad, Dana, Jan & all of the beautiful family and friends who miss her dearly. Love, VvL

Nana,
I have so many good memories of spending weekends with you and Grampy, i'm going to miss you very much. I still remember the time you yelled at me for shooting all of those birds in the yard with my bb gun... Well, i've never been very good at writing or saying these sorts of things, so I will keep it brief. I'll miss you always, and my thoughts will be with you...

Uncle Russ, Uncle Lee & family and Uncle Brad & family: I thank the Lord for you and for my Aunt Dori and I send to you my condolences. I am praying for each one of you by name knowing that the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ is able to comfort you. I pray that in the midst of this, He would be embraced and he would be your all, for He is the God of all comfort. Turn to Christ, the Savior.
John 11:25-26 says "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
