Obituary of Helen E. Ulrich
Helen E. Ulrich, 97, passed away Monday, December 29 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. She was born December 11, 1911, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Willard J. and Alice Augusta Barney Brown.
Helen worked at the family grocery business on the corner of Eight Avenue and Main Street in Gloversville and also at the Mayfield School cafeteria. She was a caretaker for many area family's children as well. Helen was a long time devoted member of the Mayfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working church dinners and was a member of the church women's group, the "BYKOTA Circle". She loved camping and traveling- especially in the Adirondacks. Most of all, she loved being with her family and found great joy and happiness in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helen married Charles Ulrich in 1934; he predeceased her September 10, 1974.
Survivors include a son, Charles J. Ulrich Marlene of Denton, TX; two daughters: Ruth E. Fairbanks of Mayfield and Nancy Mraz Richard of Mayfield; a stepdaughter, Naomi Avery Frank of Johnstown; ten grandchildren: Terry Crean Kevin, Timothy Ulrich Lori, Kyle Ulrich Simoni, Jon Ulrich Lisa, Jeffrey Fairbanks Kathy, Tracy Henderson Ed, Richard T. Mraz Mary, Aaron Mraz Eva, Christopher Mraz Karen and Kurt Mraz; seventeen great grandchildren: Mitchell and Jason Ulrich, Cory and Jared Crean, Olivia and Cooper Ulrich, Ethan Ulrich, Raymond and Amanda Fairbanks, Richard L. and Megan Mraz, Joshua and Alysha Mraz, John and Kayla Mraz and Jason and Ryan Mraz; one great great granddaughter, Ariana Loucks and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by two brothers: Willard J. Brown and Raymond Brown; a sister, Ruth Armstrong and a son-in-law David Fairbanks.
Family and friends are invited and may call Saturday, January 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, 12078.
