Obituary of Ida Hazzard

Ida Hazzard, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. She was born February 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Domenic and Mary Gentile Cristiano in Jersey City, N.J. Ida worked at St. Thomas Inc. in Johnstown in the shipping department. She was a member of the Johnstown Seniors Group and the Johnstown Moose as well. Ida loved to travel and to go out with her friends. She was extremely proficient at pique work and was an excellent cook. Ida loved her family and adored her godchildren. She will be very sadly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her loving husband, Ray, she is survived by a brother, George Cristiano of New Jersey; a sister, Anna MacGowan of Johnstown and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ida was predeceased by six sisters: Molly Wallach, Carmella Cristiano, Connie King, Rose Mannino, Margaret Palumbo and Frances Colletta. Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, January 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A prayer service will be held Tuesday, January 6 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville.
