Obituary of Mildred L. Skinner

Mildred L. Andreas Skinner passed away Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 100 following a brief illness. She was born in Mifflinville, PA on January 17, 1908, the daughter of Samuel and Anna Mae Pennypacker Andreas. She came to Fultonville in 1926 and worked in Crosses Department Store, later moving to Schenectady. On November 9, 1929 she was married to Richard J. Skinner of Fultonville. The couple resided in Albany and later returned to Fultonville. In 1955 they had their home built on Hickory Hill Rd. in Fonda. Her husband, Richard passed away on December 10, 1963. Mrs.Skinner was a devoted member of Fonda Fultonville Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and the former Willing Workers of the church. Survivors include her daughter Arlene Macek of Fultonville; five grandchildren; Peter Macek, Pamela Macek, The Rev. Penny Macek and her husband Robert Heffernan, Patty Macek and Polly Macek Bennett and husband Lance Bennett; two great grandchildren; Erin Macek and Ryan Macek; two sisters; Martha Capwell of New Jersey and Catherine Cawley of South Carolina as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five sisters; Eva Cranker Freeman, Arlene Cruise, Hester McNary, Dorothy LaFountaine and Ruth Rebar, a brother; Porter Andreas; grandchildren Paul Macek and Perry Macek and her son in law Andrew Macek. Services are Thursday at 11:00 am at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street Fultonville. The Rev. Nancy Pullen officiating. Interment is in Maple Avenue Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Fultonville.
