Obituary of Daniel B. Decena

Daniel B. Decena, Sr., 44, of 200 Virginia Lane, Amsterdam passed away at 1:37AM Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in the Dominican Republic June 8, 1964 a son of Pablo Alberto Decena of Philadelphia, PA and Martha Ortiz Rijo of Amsterdam, NY. Daniel moved to the area in September of 1975. In high school, he was known for being a talented body builder and weight lifter. He loved sports of all kinds and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. He was also a very dedicated and loving father of three beautiful children whom he adored. Daniel was a loving man who had a happy heart and who loved life. He will be sadly missed His loving family includes his children, Christian Daniels Decena, Darinel Rosa Decena and Daniel B. Decena, Jr., his granddaughter, Adriana Decena, and his brothers and sisters, Esther Decena, German Decena, Coralis Decena, Alberto Decena, Carlos Decena and Gloria Decena. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Prayer Services will be at 10:15AM on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:15AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with Fr. John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
