Obituary of Louise M. Calabrese
Mrs. Louise M. Calabrese, 86, a long time Gloversville resident, passed away Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
She was born May 5, 1922 in Fonda, daughter of the late Ernesto and Mary Macolino. Her family moved to Gloversville when she was a young child and she received her education in Gloversville schools. Mrs. Calabrese worked as an assembler for St. Thomas, Inc. for many years, retiring in the 1970's. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and the Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown.
Louise cherished her family and family events. Perhaps her greatest joys were enjoying her children and grandchildren and cooking. She was married September 14, 1947 to Arthur J. Calabrese who pre-deceased her in 1992.
Survivors include her children: John A. Laura Calabrese and Richard C. Liz Calabrese, both of Gloversville. She is also survived by a sister, Marion DeLilli of Katonah, NY; five grandchildren, Candace Muller, John J. Calabrese, Christian Calabrese, Dana L. Calabrese and Jaclyn Calabrese as well as a great grandchild, Cassidy. Mrs. Calabrese was pre-deceased by a brother, Pasquale Macolino, and three half-brothers, Pat, Albert and Carmin Andy.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Friday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown May 1.
