Obituary of Lydia Luciano Aviles

Lydia Luciano Aviles, 72, of Hibbard St. Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday January 14th, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 10th, 1936. She was the daughter of Emparro and Carmen Aviles Luciano. She was raised in Puerto Rico and attended school there. Lydia was a homemaker and was the center of the family. She always put everyone else first. She enjoyed music and telling jokes and above all loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Ms. Luciano Aviles is survived by Two sons, Eugene Gotay of New Jersey and Joseph Gotay of Amsterdam. One loving daughter, Lorraine Gotay of Amsterdam, NY. Four brothers, Moses Luciano, Edwin Luciano, Papote Luciano and Alejandro Luciano. Two sisters, Sonja and Rosado Luciano. Her beloved grandchildren, Chastity Gotay, Stephanie and David DeAngelo, Ruqayuh Richards, Bianca Gotay Gonzalez and Tyler and Dillon Gotay. Six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Lydia was predeceased by her parents and one daughter Marilyn Gotay on May 13th, 2008. Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 16th, 2009 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father John Medwid presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00A.M. at the funeral home.
