Obituary of Charles E. Mowers
Charles E. Mowers, 71, of Bulls Head Road, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital after a loving and full life.
Born in Solvay, NY on November 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Elbert and Ruth Herrick Mowers. He attended Solvay schools and lived in the Syracuse area until 1987 when he moved to Amsterdam. He had a long career as a trim carpenter and worked in that field in Syracuse and later, locally for A.W. Hamel in Scotia. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR and was an excellent cook. Chuck will always be remembered as a loving family man with a great sense of humor which he maintained until the very end. He was a member of the Cicero Rod & Gun Club.
He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of over thirty years, Joan E. Sweet Mowers; his children, Michele Steven Bailey of Hoosick Falls, Michael Kyung Mowers of Red Hill, PA, Jeffrey Diane Mowers of Manlius, NY; step-daughters, Allyson Steven Ulrich of Ballston Spa and Diane Joseph Grobuski of Hoosick Falls; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann K. Mowers of Rye, NH; an uncle, Paul Mowers of Camden and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, his brother, David Mowers predeceased him.
A Legacy Candle Ceremony will take place Monday evening at 6:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue followed at 6:30 pm by a Service of Remembrance.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday prior to services from 4-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Chuck's name to Community Hospice of Amsterdam 246 Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
