Obituary of Charlotte Nelson
Charlotte Nelson, 77, of Highland Road, passed away peacefully Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on February 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy Delos Nelson and was a 1949 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Throughout high school she worked for F.W. Woolworth's and later began a long career as a key punch operator for Mohasco. She then worked for a time at Tesiero's Pharmacy and retired after ten years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Albany. Charlotte was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher for fifty-eight years. She also was a member of the Session of the church, and volunteered for the Amen Soup Kitchen at St. Casimir's since its inception. An avid Yankees fan, she also loved to bowl and was a member of many leagues including Women's Classic, Windmill and City Teams. She will always be remembered as a loving sister and aunt.
She leaves her dear sister, Carol Tuchorski of Amsterdam as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Nelson, Lucille Nelson Louer and Vivi Elaine Nelson, and brothers, Samuel Nelson and recently, William Nelson.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street with the Rev. Roland "Mac" MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5-8 pm Monday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her beloved United Presbyterian Church, in care of the funeral home office.
