Obituary of Don C. Wilder
Mr. Don C. Wilder, 72 years old of Eaker Road, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital. Mr. Wilder was born May 30, 1936 in the Town of Palatine, a son of Clarence and Edith Acker Wilder. He received his education in Gloversville Schools, returning to the Ft. Plain area in 1960, where he had since resided. Mr. Wilder served with the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1958. He worked for various leather mills in Gloversville before accepting a position as a crane operator for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. He retired in 1994.
Don was of the Methodist Faith. He played slow pitch softball in Gloversville for many years. Don enjoyed Country Music and Country Gospel Music. He also enjoyed the time he spent working his farm. People who knew Don also knew that they could depend on him if they needed a helping hand.
Don married the former Patricia E. Hinkle on June 25, 1960 who survives. He is also survived by his son Michael H. Eve Wilder of Tallahassee, Florida; two daughters KellyAnn P. Timothy A. Miller of Adairsville, Georgia and HeideLin P. Jeremy J. Jewell of Ft. Plain, N.Y.; two brothers James and Garry Wilder both of Gloversville, N.Y.; two sisters Marilyn Murray of Johnstown and Mary Pantalone of Gloversville; and six grand children: Cody and Noah Miller, Shelby Dillenbeck, Devin M. Wilder, Mason McKenzie and Hollywood Wilder. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by a son Donald Paul Wilder; a daughter Shirleen L. Wilder; his twin brother Dick L. Wilder, twin brothers Wesley and William Wilder, his brother Ronald Wilder and his sister Elaine Gergich.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
