Obituary of William H. Jasper
William H. Jasper 80, of Crescent Avenue, passed away peacefully Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital with his wife at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on November 11, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Mabel Hart Jasper. A 1946 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, he lived here his entire life. He served with the US Air Force and was stationed at the Loring Air Force Base in Maine, honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.
He was a member of the Irish American Club and the United Methodist Church. William had a long career as an automobile mechanic before he retired. He enjoyed his family, bowling, gardening and working at his home.
On October 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to the former Muriel M. Martin.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children; Michael R. Jasper of Jacksonville, Fla., and Debra John Grebert of Latham; his grandchildren; Daniel and Sarah Grebert; and nieces, nephews and cousins. His siblings, James and Harold Jasper; Lena Brown and Jessie Lennon all predeceased him.
Services are Friday at 12:30 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Greg DeSalvatore officiating. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours are today from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his memory to GAVAC in care of the funeral home office.
