Obituary of Joseph W. Langley
Mr. Joseph W. Langley, 95, formerly of Langley Rd., Town of Florida, NY, passed away Monday January 19th, 2009 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in the Town of Florida, NY on February 1st, 1913 a son of William and Mary Graff Langley. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mr. Langley was a Farmer and was the Co-Owner of the former Langley Brothers Farm in the Town of Florida. Joseph along with his brother Bernard Langley sold hay and delivered it to places in Ct and New York City. They also ran a dairy farm and a cinderblock building company. He retired in 1986.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the farm bureau and the Montgomery County Extension Service.
Joseph married Mary Taylor Langley on November 16, 1946. She died on September 12, 1984. Survivor's include his nieces and nephews, Edward Cassidy, Jack Langley, James Langley, Dale James, Maureen Geller, Carol Ann, Richard Hanley, Edward Hanley, Shaylene Fancher, Patricia Melnick, Irene Dreaney and dear friends, Jane Watroba, Helen and David Roland. Mr. Langley was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Bernard Langley, Thomas Langley, Richard Langley, Donald Langley, Grace Cassidy, Frances Fitchen, Katherine Langley Hanley and Helen Langley Smith. Cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 22nd, 2009 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St., Amsterdam, NY with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 21, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, P.O.
