Obituary of Betty J. Buchanan

Mrs. Betty J. Buchanan, age 90, of Johnstown, died Wednesday morning, March 1, 2017 at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville. She was born January 25, 1927 in Perth, the daughter of William and Cora Shear Wendt. She was employed for several years by Coleco Industries of Mayfield and was a former 4H Club Leader. Betty is survived by five children, Diane M. Wood (Bruce), David Bishop, Roy Bishop, Mary Coco (Michael) and Barbara E. Bishop, all of Johnstown; three step-children, Barbara Pagano (Martin) of Minneapolis, MN, Arthur Buchanan of Florida and Keith Buchanan (Kimberly) of Gloversville and a brother, Donald Wendt (Arlene) of Arizona. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Daniel Burkdorf. Melissa Austin, Matthew Coco, Joshua and Courtney Buchanan, Evedna Pullis, Karise and Joslyn and Martin Pagano Jr; Katie Whalen, Kenneth Buchanan III, Karl Buchanan, Dustin Buchanan and Nicole Bream; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two husbands, Leonard Bishop and Kenneth Buchahan, Sr; a son, Francis Bishop; a step-son, Kenneth Buchanan, Jr. and four sisters, Ethel Deuel, Marie White, Dorothy Lent and Mildred Philbrook. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3:00PM, Sunday, March 5th at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, where a Funeral Service will follow at 3:00PM with the Rev. Dr. RW Williams officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or the animal shelter of your choice.
