Obituary of Vincent Patrick

Vincent Patrick 84, of Scenic Road, Hagaman, passed away suddenly Friday morning at his home as the result of a fire. Born in Amsterdam on June 19, 1924, he was the youngest child of Joseph and Mary Karutis Patrick. Educated locally, he resided here all of his life. He worked for the carpets mills as a weaver and later for Fiber Glass Industries. Vin retired in 1980 after a twenty year career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady, where he worked as a cylindrical grinder. In his youth, he was an avid tennis player and was awarded the Amsterdam Youth Division title at one time. He also loved to fish, and spend time in the Ausable Forks area. Vin was also a dog lover and an avid reader. He served as a sergeant in the US Air Force's 112th Division and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was a proud member of the former American Lithuanian Club for fifty years, serving as it's president at one time. On November 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to the former Rose Holubetz. She predeceased him in 1991. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward Patrick. He leaves his son, Thomas L. and his wife Jami Patrick; a grandson, Ben Patrick, all of Perth; a brother; Joseph Patrick of Cazenovia; sisters; Agnes Rokit and Adele Lennon both of Amsterdam; and nieces and nephews and cousins. A service to celebrate his life will take place Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
