Obituary of Rose T. Hage

Rose T. Hage, 82, of Church Street, Amsterdam, passed away February 13, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Amsterdam, on May 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Christine Lubus Hage. A lifelong city resident, Rose graduated in 1944 from St. Mary's Institute as well as Amsterdam Business School. Rose was employed at Fownes Gloves, the Office of Attorney Don Campbell and General Electric. Several years later, she worked for the New York State Department of Transportation in Albany, retiring in 1989 after 24 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and religiously attended masses in order to hear her niece, Paula sing with Rachelle and her contemporary choir. She held a special place in her heart for Auriesville Shrine over the years, enjoying the solitude of the grounds and participating in the summer masses. Rose enjoyed reading, walking and tending to her rose garden. A devoted friend, she continued to enjoy camaraderie with her former co-workers to this day. A devoted aunt, she held a special place in her heart for her niece Paula, and rarely went anywhere without her by her side. She is survived by her brothers, Edward Hage and his wife Monica of New Hartford, NY and Michael Hage of Arlington, VA; nine nieces, Christine Gryscavage of Glenville, NY, Joan Gryscavage of Gloversville, NY, Paula Gryscavage of Amsterdam, NY, Diane Finch of Hamilton, NY, Donna Morris of Skaneateles, NY and Janet Bednarz of Syracuse, NY; three nephews, Joseph Hage of Utica, NY, George and Charles Hage of Brockport, NY; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Thomas Hage in 1996 and Marion Gryscavage in 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. Internment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Mary's Institute, Upper Church Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Her family would like to thank the staff of the ER, ICU and Maria Hall at St. Mary's Hospital for their care and concern during her hospitalization.
