Dear Verna and family,
We feel so bad that we couldn't make the viewing. But we will greatly miss seing and talking to Bert out in the back yard. Talking to him about his garden and stories about his little dog. We send our sincere condolences to all of the family. Bert was certainly someone that will not be forgotten. We are in South Carolina and am so sorry that we were unable to attend Bert's funeral or be there for support. Your family and my family were very close when we were growing up.
Those good times will never be forgotten. I am sure that Bert is filling my father in on the last 20 years as we speak. God Bless all of you and know that you are not alone. We will always be family and cherish his memory.

Verna and Family
I first got know Bert involving his code enforcement duties. He was user friendly and was able to enforce the codes without any strong arm tactics. He was sincere and most always respectful. I got to know him better as a director of the Fulmont Mutual board where he unselfishly shared lots of information and of course many stories.
He was a good guy...and what better legacy can a man leave?

I am so saddened to hear of Bert passing. I am in Florida on vacation, and am very sorry to miss his services. His presence and his "wit" will be greatly missed not only by me but by the vast community of friends that he touched and knew. He and his loving family will be in my thoughts in prayers. Really sorry to hear about Norbert. As one of the Etzkorns down the road, we were neighbors back in the early 70's. Used to play baseball in the evenings by the barn. Hope all the family are doing well.

The time Bert spent as the Town of Johnstown Building inspector will always be remembered by us. He was a great assest to the town and to Rich as the supervisor of the town, we have many happy memories of him and the days he lightned up the lives of everyone at town hall, he will be missed.He was kind enough to stay the building inspector until Rich retired from the supervisor position.
