Obituary of Jessie C. Whittey
Mrs. Jessie C. Whittey, 87, of Chestnut St. Amsterdam, died Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY, on July 19, 1921, a daughter of Antoni and Sophie Adamski Milunski. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1940.
Mrs. Whittey was an Executive Secretary for Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam and was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam.
She married Michael "Carl" Whittey on February 7th, 1942, at the former St. Joseph's Church in Amsterdam. He died on July 6th, 1987. Upon their retirement from Mohawk Carpet Mills, Jessie and Carl enjoyed spending the summers at their home on Prince Edward Island.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Frank Mengel of Amsterdam; her brother, Raymond A. Louise Milunski of Amsterdam; her sister, Wanda Dugas of Amsterdam; two grandsons, Dr. Michael J. Sigrid Harnish of Duisburg, Germany and Christopher R. Chelsea Harnish of Richmond, VA; two great grandsons, Niklas Ian and Timothy William Harnish; seven nephews, Dr. Raymond N. Roselee Dugas, Dr. Mark Christine Milunski, the Rev. Brad A. Milunski OFM Conv, Joseph Whittey, Michael, Robert and Raymond Giza; her niece Maureen McCarty, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 27th, 2009 at 8:30AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam, with Fr. Brad Milunski, OFM, Conv and Fr. Pascal Iannotti Concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 26th, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A., 1007 State Hwy 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
