Obituary of Kathe McMullen

Kathe McMullen, 79, of McMullen Drive, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Walldorf, Germany June 3, 1929 a daughter of the late George and Madelene Sieber Hess. Kathe was raised in Walldorf and attended schools in that area concentrating on studies to be a seamstress. She then worked as a seamstress before her marriage to Russell McMullen on August 29, 1953 whom she met in during Russell's service to his country with the US Army in Germany. For the past 30 years, Kathe resided in Sprakers where she enjoyed being an active homemaker. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda where she was also a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Kathe also attended Charleston Christian Church where she enjoyed taking part in Sunday activities at the church. Her loving family includes her son Charles McMullen and his wife Kathleen of Sprakers, her daughter Kathy Crounse and her husband David of Daytona Beach, FL, her grandchildren, Sandy House and her husband Richard of Sprakers, Renee Lyker and her husband Daniel of Sprakers, Rebecca Dwyer and her husband, Cory of Johstown, David Crounse of Rotterdam and Brett Crounse of Palm Coast, FL, her great grand daughter, Bethany House, her beloved companion and dear friend Karl Montanye of Sprakers, her sister, Gertrude Olkowski of Schenectady and her brother, Karl Hess of Walldorf, Germany. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, Kathe was predeceased by her husband, Russell on November 26, 1995, one sister, Cecile Kramer and two brothers, Hans and Ludwig Hess. Services will be at 2:00PM on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with Pastor Bret Popp and Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. co-officiating. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Fonda. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to services on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the funeral home.
