Obituary of Avis Pauline Trautman
Mrs. Avis Pauline Trautman lost her battle with Leukemia on Friday evening, February 27, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was 79.
Avis was born in Jay, NY on October 10, 1929 and lived a full and active life until just three weeks before her death. She was employed full time at Fownes on Elk Street for 62 consecutive years.
She was an active member of Calvary Reformed Church in Hagaman where she served as financial secretary, held the office of Deacon, chaired the Soup and Sandwich Luncheons, and was a member of the Women's Group. She often attended St. Mary's "Club 60" and was a former member of Memorial Hospital's "Sterling Care". She had also been active for many years in the Montgomery County Sheriff's Women's Auxiliary.
Known for her endless energy, often putting those a fraction of her age to shame, her giving spirit knew no limits. She demonstrated a love for her church and a fierce loyalty to everyone through her actions daily.
She was predeceased by her sister Gene Dampier, a brother, Raymond Luke and the love of her life, her husband Fred Trautman.
Her loving family includes her brother in law, Robert Dampier; her nephew, Robert Dampier, Jr.; her cousins Helen Anderson, Shirley Buchanan, and John Blunk; her two nieces, Sara Czelusniak and Karen LaGrange. She also leaves behind countless friends, neighbors, co- workers, and fellow church members who loved and admired her and cherished her friendship. She will be greatly missed for the special way she touched the lives of everyone she knew and loved.
