Obituary of Edna V. Carbone
Edna V. Carbone, 85, of Brandt Place, Amsterdam, passed away Friday afternoon at the Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam on April 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James and Eva Keritonis Klemaitis. She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School and lived here her entire life. Edna was employed for a time for Mohasco and later for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for twenty years.
She retired in 1982. Edna and her husband enjoyed travelling, especially to Cape Cod. She loved to quilt and being in the company of her family was her favorite pastime. Edna was a number one Neil Diamond fan, and recently enjoyed attending one of his concerts with her daughter. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
On January 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Paul Carbone. He predeceased her on December 8, 1991.
She leaves her children: Diane Wojnar of Baldwinsville, NY, Michael Carbone of Summerville, SC and James and his wife Ute Carbone of Nashua, NH; grandsons: Christian and his wife Julie Wojnar, Andrew and Matthew Carbone; great grandchildren: Joshua and Clarissa Wojnar and a cousin Arlene Jasper.
Her brother, William Klemaitis, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, March 19th at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Church with Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Edna's memory to the Mountain Valley Hospice or to Boy's Town USA both in care of the funeral home office.
