Obituary of Jean M. Pankonin
Jean M. Pankonin 82, of Post Avenue, Tribes Hill, passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon at her home.
Born in Tribes Hill on June 19, 1926, she was the only child of the late Harry and Lulu Stevens Vosburgh, she lived there her entire life. In earlier years, Jean worked for the Montgomery County Welfare Department and later Mohawk Sportswear. A home maker, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma. She served a s past matron of the Art-Wel Chapter Of The Order Of The Eastern Star, and was a charter member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Jean was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam.
She was united in marriage to Keith C. Pankonin Sr. on June 28, 1947. He predeceased her on Feb. 12, 2000. She also lost her son, Keith "Skip" Pankonin Jr. on Dec. 19, 1999.
Jean leaves her daughter Debra J. and her husband Richard Hitchcock of Fort Johnson; Daughter in law, Lora Pankonin of Fort Johnson; grandchildren; Eric K. Pankonin, April Pankonin, Richard Kelly Hitchcock, Kristin Christopher Madore, and Matthew Hitchcock; great grandchildren: Ashley, Alyssa, Jordan, Brandon, Shaun, Colton, Mace, Evie and Jackson as well as her dear friends.
A Communion service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. The Rev. William T. Hodgetts, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4-7 pm Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity E. L. Church, or to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department both in care of the funeral home office.
