Obituary of Theresa M. Walton
Theresa M. "Terrie" Walton, 78, of Grand Street, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on May 15, 1930, she was the youngest and last surviving child of Louis and Edna Polinski Grum. She attended St. Stanislaus' Parochial School and was a 1948 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. In 1951 she graduated from the Albany Hospital Union School Of Nursing. Following her completion of the coronary nursing class at Glens Falls Hospital and Russell Sage College, she became a cardiac care nurse at St. Clare's Hospital where she remained for eighteen years, two of which were spent as Director Of Nursing. She later was the evening supervisor at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1984 as Patient Educator And Relief Day Supervisor.
Terrie was a communicant of St. John The Baptist and St. Stanislaus' Roman Catholic Churches. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus' Ladies Rosary Society, the Pierogi Ladies, Parish Council and Festival committee. Theresa was also an active member at one time of the Knights Of Columbus Auxiliary, Mt. Loretto Auxiliary, and many nursing associations including the American Society of Critical Care Nurses, Hudson Valley and National League Of Nurses, Board Of Directors for the Montgomery Co. and Eastern New York Heart Association, the Oncology Nurses Asso. and was a member of the Gold Star Wives Of America and the American Polonaise Society.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, George B. Walton on November 6, 1954, and sisters; Bernice Circe and Florence Dybas.
She leaves her nephew, Jeffrey L. Circe of Lakeland Fla. , niece; Sandra Falcone of Norfalk, Va.; great nephews Brett Circe and Nathaniel and Brad Falcone; great great nieces, Jeannette and Breanna Circe, and her long time friend Janet Fink and family as well as cousins and dear friends.
Services are Monday at 8:45 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 9:30 am at St. Stanislaus' Church. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti presiding. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm at the funeral home where the Ladies Rosary Society will meet at 1:45 to recite the rosary.
Contributions may be made to the Carmelite Monastery of Pittsford, NY or to St. Stanislaus' Church, both in care of the funeral home office.
