Obituary of Patricia E. Sohl
Patricia E. Sohl, age 83, of Gloversville, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
She was born July 16, 1933 in Gloversville to Harold and Laura (Spraker) McGregor.
She attended Gloversville High School graduating in 1952 were she was involved in various women's sports. She was in the twirlers as the assistant leader.
She worked at A & P where she met her husband William G. Sohl of 61 years. She then worked at Saveway Market as head bookkeeper which later became P & C Market in Johnstown.
She loved to go to her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She never missed a game. She loved following and talking sports, especially the Yankees, Cowboys, Lakers, Knicks and Syracuse Basketball. She would never miss the opportunity to go to the casino with her husband & friends. She and William enjoyed their winter home in Florida for 20 years and developed many close friendships. She lived life to the fullest going on many vacations, traveling the countryside in their motor home and going out to eat with her family.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and a former member of the Women of the Moose, both of Johnstown.
She was married on January 14, 1956 to William G. Sohl who survives her. She also leaves behind two sons, Mark W. Sohl (Lisa) of Gloversville and Jeff S. Sohl of Syracuse; two sisters, Caryl Simonds of Syracuse and Betty Pirro (James) of Kingston; three grandchildren, Sara Sohl, Rudolph Sohl and Connor Sohl; a great-granddaughter, Laliyah Sohl; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her father Harold "Sparky" McGregor, mother Laura Spraker McGregor and beloved pet Kobe whom she loved with all her heart.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Match 17 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will be held 9:15am Saturday, followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, Johnstown, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant.
Interment will take place in the springtime at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
