Obituary of Muriel H. Calhoun Waveris

Muriel H. Calhoun Waveris, 91, of North Main St., Broadalbin, NY passed away Friday evening April 17th, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 2nd, 1917 a daughter of William and Anna Gardner Schuette. She was a 1946 Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She was a resident of Amsterdam until 1972 when her and her husband moved to Broadalbin, NY. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was past president of the Heralders of the Church. Mrs. Waveris worked at the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills for several years in Amsterdam and later worked at the former Big N Department Store for over 13 years as deli manager retiring in 1977. She married Joseph R. Waveris on June 26, 1948. He passed away on April 21st, 2005. Muriel is survived by one son, Robert Waveris of Palatine Bridge, NY and two grandchildren, Amy Waveris of Raleigh, N.C. and David Waveris of Albany, NY. Nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Millard Calhoun who passed away on December 22nd, 2003. A grave side funeral service will be held on Thursday April 23rd, 2009 at 10:00A.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam with Pastor William T. Hodgetts Jr. presiding. There are no calling hours. Flowers are being accepted at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps., P.O. Box 23, 8 Center St. Broadalbin, NY 12025.
