Obituary of Evelyn G. Rimkunas R.N.

Mrs. Evelyn G. Rimkunas R.N., 82, of Eagle St., Amsterdam, passed away Thursday March 9, 2017 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 14, 1934 a daughter of the late Samuel and Genevieve Ambrose Derinsky. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was graduate of Amsterdam High School Class of 1952. Evelyn was a graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing Class of 1955. She received her RN and was employed as an Operating Room Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital for a time. She retired from nursing to take care of her three children and family. Mrs. Rimkunas also worked alongside her husband and son in their family business Eagle St. Garage in Amsterdam. Evelyn enjoyed her camp on Galway Lake and her trips to Florida and the many cruises she enjoyed with her husband and family. Above all she enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a communicant of the former St. Casimir's Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the St. Casimir's ladies Auxiliary and the Altar Rosary Society. Evelyn currently was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. She married Stanley J. Rimkunas on September 12, 1959. In addition to her loving husband survivors include her daughter, Mary M. (David) Niles of Clifton Park, NY. Two sons, Stanley J. (Joan) Rimkunas Jr. of Perth, NY and Joseph S. (Steve) Rimkunas of Bradenton, FL. Cherished grandchildren, Stanley A., Alex, Rimas, William (Kristina) Victoria, Maria and Stephen Rimkunas and Sara Niles. Cousins and many friends also survive. All are invited to a Prayer Service on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 10:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey M. L'Arche as celebrant. Due to the Snow Storm, Calling hours scheduled for Tuesday evening March 14, 2017 have been cancelled. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning, prior to the Mass at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010 from 8:30a.m to 10:30a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
