Obituary of Mildred Ruth DiBartolomeo

Mildred Ruth DiBartolomeo 87, of Hagaman Avenue, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born in Amsterdam where she lived her entire life, she was the daughter of William and Belle Ruger Beyer. A 1939 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School she also attended the Mildred Elly School. She was employed as an LPN for both St. Mary's and Amsterdam Memorial Hospitals. In retirement, Millie was an active volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital and the Carondelet Pavilion, and also served as a docent for the Fort Johnson Historical site. She loved her home and enjoyed spending time in the flower garden and watching the birds that lived there. Millie was a devout member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society, serving as it's vice president. She was also a member of the Secular Franciscan Third Order. On January 9, 1943 she was united in marriage to Pasquale "Pat" DiBartolomeo. He predeceased her on November 10, 1990. She also lost her brother, William Beyer Jr. and sister, Betty Mittler. Her loving family includes her son, Kevin Deborah DiBartolomeo of Oneonta; her daughter, Susan Tanner of Amsterdam; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Marc, Nicholas and Alexis; great grandson, Jack Pasquale DiBartolomeo; sisters-in-law, Ramona Gralewski and Frances DiBartolomeo as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Monday at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Stephen's Church, Hagaman. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. St. Stephen's Rosary Society will gather at 4pm for their sister member. Contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Church in care of the funeral home office.
