Obituary of Anthony A. Crocetta
Mr. Anthony A. "Tony" Crocetta, age 76 of Gloversville, died peacefully on Sunday evening, May 17, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Emergency Room, Gloversville.
He was born on November 5, 1932 in Gloversville, the son of the late Frank and Celia D´Errico Crocetta. A graduate of Gloversville High School, he later attended Fulton Montgomery Community College and BOCES. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
Tony was employed by Crescent Leather Company and the Holiday Inn. For about twenty years he was an electrician at MCA Record Company and UNI Distribution Corporation until his retirement. Following his retirement he always enjoyed the company of his friends at breakfast at the Gloversville Palace Diner and at lunch each Thursday at "Eddie Anadio's Ranch".
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. In previous years he had bowled in the Gloversville Merchant's League and played softball.
On October 28, 1951 Tony married the former Ruth M. Nigro who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Anthony T. Crocetta of Gloversville and James C. Crocetta of Amsterdam; his brothers and sister, Frank Crocetta Angelina of Gloversville, Marge Harris Don of Tyler, TX and Joseph Crocetta Pam of Gloversville. Tony's granddaughter, Marisa J. Crocetta of Johnstown, was "The Light of His Life". His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Bobbi Nigro also survive, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Josephine Nicolella.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20th at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, with the Rev. Michael Clemente and the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrants. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
