Obituary of Carol A. Palombi

Mrs. Carol A. Olsen Palombi, 67 of Bouchard Way in Marietta GA, formerly of Amsterdam, NY passed away Sunday June 7, 2009 at the Wellstar Community Hospice Tranquility Center in Austell, GA. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 28, 1941 a daughter of Frederick and Jane Moore Olsen. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Carol first was employed for the former Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam. She then worked as a Teacher's Aide in the former Vrooman Ave School and later Marie Curie East Side School in Amsterdam and most recently was employed for many years as a clerk at the Crown Cleaners in Marietta GA retiring in 2006. She was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church in Amsterdam and the Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta Georgia. Mrs. Palombi was an avid Georgia Bulldogs Fan and Atlanta Braves Fan. She married Gerald F. Palombi on June 20th, 1965. In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by a loving daughter, Karen N. Purdy and her husband Roger of Atlanta, GA. Sisters and Brothers-in-Law, Alfred and Grace Palombi of Amsterdam, Guy and Mary Cappuccio of Amsterdam. Nieces and Nephews, Carol and James Douglas, Sharon and Jerry Smrtic, Guy and Valerie Cappuccio, Michael and Lise Cappuccio and Kathy Cappuccio. Aunts, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins also survive. Mrs. Palombi was predeceased by her nephew Joseph Cappuccio earlier this year. She also leaves behind her beloved grand dogs Buddy and Lily. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 13th, 2009 at 8:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St., Amsterdam with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday June 12th, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00Pm at the funeral home.
