Obituary of Robert J. Anderson

Robert J. Anderson, 86, of Juniper Drive, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 23, 1922 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Charles and Blanche McCarty Anderson and was a resident of Rotterdam since 1951. Robert was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, the General Electric Apprentice Course and also had attended Butler University and Union College. During WWII he was in the Army Air Corps serving in England with the 8th Air Force. Robert was employed with General Electric Co. as a Senior Designer for 45 years, retiring in 1986 and was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. He then worked for Imitec Inc. in Schenectady for 13 years. His loving family includes his beloved wife of 59 years, Marilyn Stager Anderson of Rotterdam, his daughter, Kathleen Anderson Davis of Ithaca, NY, his son, James R. Anderson and wife Traci of Richmond, VA and his grandchildren, Brent Davis, Saralin Davis and Evan Anderson. Services will be at 10:00AM on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday evening Today from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
