Obituary of Elaine Mary Schuchardt Quist

Elaine Mary Schuchardt Quist , 84 , of Amsterdam , passed away Wednesday March 15, 2017 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 12, 1932 the daughter of George F. and Edna Firth Schuchardt. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1949 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mrs. Quist was employed for many years in the Offices of Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co. in Amsterdam. Elaine was a member of the Amsterdam United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was also a member of the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Mohawk Valley Chorus. She married Melvin F. Quist in 1984. He passed away on February 7, 2006 . Elaine is survived by her three daughters, Gail (Gary) Kingsbury of Ocala Florida, Kathleen (Kenneth) Watrobski of Shingle Springs, CA and Janice (David) Sheckton of Galway, NY. Cherished grandchildren, Jason Hicks and Allison Lonczak, Alex and Leanne Sheckton and Andrew Watrobski. Great-grandchildren, Ashley Lonczak, Sarah Hicks, Sam Hicks and Amanda Lonczak. Her niece, Karen (Jack) Nicar of Tulsa OK, and cousins also survive. Elaine's greatest joy was being with her family, she truly loved traveling to spend time with her daughters to California and Florida. She also enjoyed the many family gatherings on Galway Lake. She was preceded in death by her brother George F. Schuchardt Jr. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 11:00A.M. at the Amsterdam United Methodist Church, 347 Golf Course Rd. , Amsterdam with Pastor Judy Humphrey-Fox presiding. The family will receive relative and friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 10:30 until 11:00 at the church. Interment will take place later in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
