Obituary of Gladys M. Tyler
Gladys M. Tyler, 81, formerly of Washington Street, Fultonville, NY, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
Born December 26, 1927 in the Town of Glen, NY she was the daughter of the late Nellie and George Green. She was a life long area resident and attended a one room school house on Route 30A in Fultonville.
Gladys was employed at the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville for 25 years until retiring in 1990.
She was an avid Yankee Baseball team fan, enjoyed bowling, loved the old country music and enjoyed dancing at one time.
On July 17, 1971 she married Bevan A. Tyler who passed away July 31, 2007. Gladys was also predeceased by her son Larry Van Alstine and a great grandson Ryan Green.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Van Alstine Jr. of Amsterdam and Tracy Van Alstine of Fultonville; two daughters, Patricia Green of Mayfield and Bonnie Rosario of Fultonville; a brother Robert Green of Fonda; two sisters, Ruth Hazzard of Fultonville and Betty Kilmartin of Fort Plain; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM, July 9, 2009, at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with the Reverend Cynthia Leonard officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Gladys's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
